Session Description:
Get techy with me! Engaging students in the learning process is important to facilitate transformative learning; using technology can support this endeavor. This session provides hands on experience with several digital tools used inside the classroom by professors. Participants will use these tools and discuss/brainstorm how they can be used in student affairs practice.

Session Outcomes:
As a result of participating this program, attendees will be able to:
- Articulate the role of active learning in transformative learning
- Summarize why it is necessary to increase of technology
- Describe the purpose of some of the latest
digital tools used by professors inside the classroom
- Utilize seven digital tools during the session to be able to apply following the session
- Discuss how digital tools can be used in student affairs practice

Dr. Jaimie Hoffman is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Education at the USC Rossier School of Education. Her areas of expertise include assessment in higher education, student affairs administration, development of college student leaders and use of technology inside and outside of the classroom for advancing student learning and engagement.
Prior to joining the Rossier faculty, Hoffman worked in various administrative roles in student affairs and information technology. Most recently, Hoffman served as a Teaching and Learning Innovations Specialist at CSU Channel Islands, where she provided pedagogical training and support to faculty teaching blended and online courses. Hoffman also spent over 15 years working in student affairs at public and for-profit institutions of varying sizes;
she worked in and with the following programmatic areas: assessment and training, new student programs, orientation, leadership programs, residential education, judicial affairs, campus recreation and career services. Hoffman has experience as an adjunct faculty member at CSU Channel Islands, CSU Northridge, Messiah College and Salem State University, teaching face-to-face, blended and online courses on assessment, education, communication, diversity and organizational leadership to undergraduate and graduate students.
Hoffman received her EdD in Leadership from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her MEd in Higher and Postsecondary Education from Arizona State University.
